Dementia Friendly Newtown is a growing community, supportive and inclusive of anybody living with dementia.

Where our band of dementia friends are active in Newtown and surrounding areas, people with dementia are empowered to have aspirations and to feel confident, knowing that they can contribute and live life the way they want.

Be involved

Businesses, whether shops, garages, public services, or one man bands, can help to make their working environment more dementia friendly. Just invite us in, and see how it can benefit your business or service. You can arrange for your staff to attend a short dementia friends session at no cost, but very beneficial. Visit our website to find out how.

Dementia Friends is a national initiative that is being run by the Alzheimer’s Society. It is funded by the government, and aims to improve people’s understanding of dementia and its effects. Friends information sessions are run by local, trained volunteer Dementia Friend Champions. Each information session is free, lasts about one hour and can be done individually for your shop, business group or organisation, at a time to suit. They are interactive, they’re fun – and suitable for all ages!
